Kyle Smith is a grad student but I don't get how he is allowed to still play ball. Did he play at whatever school he went to for undergrad? What are the technicalities regarding grad student NCAA eligibility?
ReplyDeleteYou are allowed to play as a graduate student as long as you still have a year of eligibility left (only played 3/4 years). Smyth played originally at Iona, where Willard was coach. However, he redshirted Freshman year, meaning he played less than 30% of the games due to injury. Thus, he only played 3 years at Iona, leaving 1 year of eligibility, which he will spend at Seton Hall.
